Nook

After a lot of hemming and hawing, I decided to do it. I decided it would be a good idea to get an eReader to use when I'm on deployment, because otherwise I'd be taking a "small" library with me, which - with all the equipment I need for my hair and nails - just isn't practical.

I first checked out the Kindle from Amazon, because that's what I heard most about, but when I went to Best Buy, I really didn't like it too much. But I really liked the new Nook from Barnes & Noble...B&N started a deal with libraries that you can borrow eBooks for free for a month or so, plus when I don't know a word I can click on it and the Nook will define it for me...words like "excrementitiously" and "infamous" (IN famous??)

I considered giving my Nook a cute name...like "Nookie" but decided against it...can't remember why....

I thought it would be a good idea to download the Bible first...but I was shocked that it's not free! THE WORD OF GOD IS COPYRIGHT????

I'm trying to figure out what else I should download - most classics are free, but what do I want to pay for? I'm not willing to spend more than $3 on a book since otherwise I'd just be patient and buy the book. I'm looking for books that are engaging and easy to read, since when I'm tired or busy I don't really get into intellectual reads, like The Divine Comedy or Everybody Poops.

I'm thinking of downloading Morte d'Arthur since I'm really into the legends of King Arthur right now and they are a series of short-ish stories...but what else? I'm also enjoying reading Laura Ingraham's The Obama Diaries since it's funny, engaging, and easy to read (and informative).

Any suggestions?

The second you bought a Nook instead of a Kindle, you were dead to me on the subject. I could have FILLED your Kindle with books. Yes, FILLED it with thousands of books. Dead to me.
